Name::
Swirlpaw(pelt)
Gender::
She-cat
Age::
13 moons
Clan/ Group::
Thunderclan
Position::
Apprentice
Description::
I included a picture, but Swirlpaw is largely silver with grey swirl patterns along her sides. Her fur is sleek and smooth, due to possible Riverclan lineage. Her eyes are bright yellow. She has very long legs and is an excellent tree climber, usually bringing down at least one squirrel while hunting. She is also very agile, preferring to dart in quickly at an enemy rather than exchange blow after blow.
Personality::
Swirlpaw is a very sweet cat in peace, though a bit on the shy side. She is willing to talk to cats she is familiar with, but nervous around the experienced warriors and other clans. She has definitely shown progress, however. As a kit, she took days to leave her den and was later a shivering wreck at her first Gathering. Now she looks forward to them, though she has yet to make any friends outside of Thunderclan.
At home, Swirlpaw talks little on patrols although is quick with a smile before turning back to the task. She is confident in hunting and talented at bringing down squirrels, but won't complain about a simple mouse or two. In battle she is equally competent, though she's only seen the occasional border skirmish. She is capable, but not ruthless, and often fights alongside a warrior, nipping at their enemy to distract it while the other cat handles the main fighting. She is very cautious, never getting hurt except for some light scratches, which she usually lets go untended.
She can usually be found with her brother, Shadeclaw, who is older than her by 8 moons and a bit of a leader among the younger warriors. The two often hunt alone together (with permission of her mentor), her brother acting as a second mentor. She is very fond of him as a result, and likes to talk to the other apprentices about his achievements. More often than not Shadeclaw has dragged her out of Clan territory to explore some new piece of land, much to Swirlpaw's dismay. Fortunately, they haven't been caught yet, so Swirlpaw lets Shadeclaw continue with his "expeditions", hoping that maybe they can convince the leader to add more territory.
Sometimes Swirlpaw dreams of becoming leader, though she knows she would never be able to cope with that sort of role. Still, she is truly dedicated to her training and like any other apprentice wants to be the best warrior she can be.
Family::
Father: Nightstripe (deceased)
Mother: Dapplepelt
Brother: Shadeclaw
History::
Nightstripe was a very ambitious cat and looked up to by most young cats, including his children. Swirlkit always begged Dapplepelt to hear stories about her father, and dreamed that he would be made her mentor. Her first six moons passed quickly and she was made an apprentice in the same ceremony that made Shadepaw into Shadeclaw. She was disappointed when Nightstripe wasn't her mentor, but soon got over that and dedicated herself to training.
A month after she received her apprentice name, Shadowclan tried to take a large chunk of Thunderclan territory. She was kept in camp, but her father was sent out at the head of a battle patrol. He was killed in battle, devastating his family and the Clan. Swirlpaw never really got over his death, strengthening her relationships with her mother and brother and fretting when they showed the slightest signs of injury or sickness.
When Swirlpaw first attended a Gathering, she didn't talk much and stuck close to her mother and brother. She enjoyed the journey, however, curious about the other Clans' territories, though silent when Dapplepelt tried to introduce her to a Riverclan elder. Her second Gathering was slightly better, and she talked to a few cats from Windclan, amazed that cats could live without trees and undergrowth around them. She now continues to open up to other cats, though making sure not to get too close to cats from other Clans.
RolePlay Sample::
Swirlpaw crouched on the branch, looking up at the sparrow above her. She knew that somewhere among the bushes her mentor was hiding, watching her. Her task was to bring down three pieces of prey, one of which had to be a bird. She already had a squirrel and a shrew, and it was getting near dark. Moons ago this would have terrified her, messing up her performance. Now, however, she was in "the zone", as her brother jokingly called it.
She considered her options. She could chance a jump at the bird, or try and climb up to its level. The trunk here grew slippery and tough to grip, but the ground was a little too far away to guarantee a safe landing if she missed.
Making up her mind, Swirlpaw slunk back to the trunk and pulled herself up it, thanking Starclan she hadn't slipped. The bird preened itself obliviously, not noticing the grey shape advancing behind hit. Now in range, Swirlpaw stopped and prepared to pounce. As she pushed off, the bird noticed and took off, but was too late. It flew straight into Swirlpaw's outstretched claws, which sunk into its neck and brought it back down onto the branch. Swirlpaw killed it cleanly, clambering back down the tree. I wonder if I'll become a warrior anytime soon, she thought as she retrieved the other prey. It's certainly been long enough.
