Life will rush by like a screaming river. It wont stop for anyone or anything. Your only choice is to pad through life making it better for the next spirits to roam. As long as the memory of one soul remains, it will live on forever within the holder of that memory, but as that spirit is forgotten, its life will fade slowly away until it is completely gone, but do not shed a tear for the forgotten. They may never live on again, but they left this world behind peacefully, and isn't that all we can ever hope for?
These facts were as sure to Moonstar as the fact the stars will shine the next night. It was hard not to think of life as you watched water rush by you, for it shows the image of life within it. Rushing by without a thought for the outside world. The water faintly reflected the moon against its surface, portraying the night sky on a moving blue-tinted surface. She sighed happily thinking of how fortunate and calm clan-life has been recently, no wars, good prey, and low sickness. She new the good spell would end someday, but she felt proud that she had led her clan so well so-far.
Moonstar sighed. Spring time was her least favorite time of year, for she could not swim in such fast waters. She loomed over the water, eyes searching for squirming silver bodies.

A loud splash broke the calm surface of the water. White shards leapt into the air and sparkled in the sun (lol). Riddlesong drew back, a large fish flapping in his jaws, his fur around his face and chest soaking wet as he scrambled back onto the bank.

Mintfur padded through the dense forest, thrusting his way through the undergrowth. The bubbling of the stream could be heard over the songs of the birds that nested in the trees. He lifted his head, letting the breeze ruffle his fur. The warm air felt good after the harsh leaf-bare, where his mother had nearly died from green cough. Mintfur was happy that the moons of empty bellies and the wails of his starving Clanmates, had given in to new growth and kits. The grass tickled his pads and the sun warmed his pelt. Soon he spotted Moonstar, who was clearly visible with her sparkling blue eyes and her strange black-and-white pelt. Mintfur padded up to Moonstar, his fur glistening silver in the light of the afternoon. "Moonstar?" he asked hesitantly.

(-coughs- it is night time xD) Moonstar was so entranced by the silvery waves, she had not noticed Riddlesong creeping up to the river shore. Her head whipped up when she heard the splash, quickly regaining herself from surprised, quickly flattening her fur with her tongue. She smiled the wiggling fish in his jaws. "Nice catch," she meowed slightly amused by how clumsy it seemed.
Without warning a dark gray tabby broke through the bushes, making Moonstar switch her attention to her deputy, Mintfur. She smiled, "Fancy seeing you here, Mintfur." It was like an unintentional party. How did they all think to come to this exact spot in the middle of the night, she wondered. Though, who doesn't want to reminisce beside the smooth silvery waves as the moon and stars reflect off of its rushing surface? "Don't act like im a badger or something," she laughed, "All the fish have probably swam farther down stream because of that splash, so why don't we try and go find some mice or voles." She looked at Riddlesong and asked, "would you like to join us, or are you satisfied with your fish?"

Riddlesong set the still fish down on the bank, shivering slightly as the cool night breeze chilled his wet fur. He looked sheepishly up at Moonstar, "If you don't mind, I-I'd like to join you." he said quietly, eyes darting back down to look at his fish. He coughed awkwardly, "Er, unless I'd be too much trouble."
Riddlesong suddenly got to his paws, "I'm really sorry about the splash. I didn't mean for it to be so loud." He had only been made a warrior a few nights ago. "I-It's never happened to me before!" He looked back down, ashamed at his sudden, and uncharacteristic outburst.

(*cough* okay, Moonz XD oops)
Mintfur smiled at Riddlesong. "It's okay. Everyone does that sometimes. It's not your fault." He looked down at the river. The stars reflected off it, moving like fireflies in the night. A small wave hit a rock, hissing and sending up a spray that sparkled onto his pelt. "The water looks beautiful," he murmured, twitching his whiskers. Mintfur turned to Moonstar. "Yes, I'd love to go hunting!" he purred. "They prey must think it's only safe at night." He grinned. "We'll prove them wrong," Mintfur started down the river. But then called over his shoulder. "Maybe the prey came out to see what the splash was, Riddlesong!"

. Moonstar looked at her warrior in udder surprise, "of course you can hunt with us! What ever made you think you couldnt?" She huffed, her warrior needed to become more confident, no shy young warriors under her rule! "Now now! No hunter is perfect, it wasn't like i was scolding you! Come on, that is one big fish, sure to feed the clan, now lets go catch some voles and mice so we can fatten them up!" Her eyes lit up when Mintfur agreed to join them. "Good! Now that is the spirit! Let's go and catch some of those vermon." She trotted into the forest, drinking in the scents of the forest. Most of the scents were covered with a blanket of damp scent, which masked any stale scents. 'Great, way to make everything ten times harder!' Stalking through the brush, she automatically scented the vole. However, she wanted to give Riddlesong a chance to scent and catch it. So she twitched her tail, to show Mintfur not to go after the vole. She slowed up, crouching down, allowing Riddlesong by so he could go after the vole when he scented it. ooc:Word count: 194 small post sorry :C [/blockquote]

Riddlesong padded after the two older warriors, looking down at his paws. Despite their comforting words, he still felt horribly ashamed. His pelt prickled self-consciously and his stomach churned.
He almost missed the vole. He stopped suddenly and dropped into a rigid crouch, keeping as quiet and still as possible. He started to creep forward, aware of the two other cats watching. A sudden terror gripped him, what if he messed up again? In front of the leader and deputy no less! He pounced landing a little bit too far and catching the vole rather messily. There was a loud scuffle before the prey finally hung limp in his jaws. He straightened up and looked hesitantly back at his companions.

Mintfur watched the scuffle. There was a squeak, and the vole hung lifeless in Riddlesong's jaws. He glanced at Riddlesong. "Nice catch," he mewed sarcastically, laughing. Mintfur stared into the water, his shadow falling behind him. A paw was raised, ready to lash out if any fish came. He stood stone-still. A loud splash told him that a fat silver fish was slowly making its way upstream. Finally, through the clear water, he spotted it. Mintfur sat patiently, waiting for the fish to come closer. It swam nearer, struggling against the current. Mintfur's paw lashed out. He scooped up the fish and sank his jaws in its neck, killing it. He looked over at Riddlesong, grinning. "That," he mewed calmly, "Is how you catch prey," Suddenly, his paw flashed out and a silver fish lay wriggling by his paws. He bit it, and its thrashing grew weaker. Its eyes were glazing over. The fish was dead.

Mintfur grinned. "Okay then," he meowed. "That was unexpected," He licked his damp paws and glanced up at the moon. Mintfur stopped and lifted his head. It was nearly dawn. "We should get back," he murmured. "I need to orginize patrols." He looked back towards Riddlesong. "Gather up your prey and let's head back," he meowed. Mintfur picked up his fish and headed for the camp, his fur shining in the moonlight. Suddednly a picture flashed through his mind of himself, but transparent somewhat. He shimmered like water. Then, with a splash, the image rose up and fell like rain. The vision cleared. "I am water? Rain?" he muttered to himself, confused. Then Mintfur shook his head and continued towards the sleeping camp.
